FACADE CLEANERS

FACADE CLEANERS

Having a clean facade is one of the most important aspects of maintenance of the outside of buildings, as a clean exterior can not only enhance a building’s appearance, but also protects it from damage caused by dirt, grime, and other environmental contaminants.

There are several types of products that can be used for cleaning building facades, each with their own unique characteristics and functions.

Contents

Neutral facade cleaners

One of the most common types of facade cleaners are neutral cleaners. These cleaners have a pH of around 7, which is neutral on the pH scale. They are designed to be safe for use on a wide variety of surfaces, and are effective at removing dirt, grime, and other contaminants without damaging the surface. Neutral cleaners are often used for general cleaning purposes and can be applied with a pressure washer or brushes.

Alkaline products

The second most used type of facade cleaning products are alkaline cleaners. These cleaners have a pH higher than 7 and are effective at removing stains caused by algae or other types of organic growth and dirt. They are also effective for removing grease and oil, making them a prefered choice for cleaning building facades in industrial areas. However, it is important to use caution when using alkaline cleaners, as they can be dangerous and can cause damage to certain types of surfaces if not used properly. If you are not sure, always consult with our research and development department.

Strong acid based facade cleaners

Acidic cleaners, on the other hand, have a pH lower than 7 and are effective at removing stains caused by rust or other types of inorganic growth and pollution. They can also be effective at removing stains caused by hard water and mineral build-up. Like alkaline cleaners, acidic cleaners can be dangerous and can cause damage to certain types of surfaces if not used properly.

To each type of facade the appropriate cleaning approach

Please note that the type of facade surface will determine the appropriate cleaning product to be used. For example, acidic cleaners may be verry effective at removing rust stains on metal surfaces but could damage a limestone facade. Alkaline cleaners may be effective at removing organic growth on a concrete surface, but they could damage a marble facade.

Good advice is for free. At least with us it is. Every day, our technical advisers are out in the field inspecting substrates and contamination, setting test pieces and assisting customers in starting up major projects. And during these visits, they have heard many questions pass by. Here are the most frequently asked questions about graffiti removal. Want to know more? Ask away.

Each situation requires a different approach. Blasting and high-pressure cleaning, for example, can damage fragile masonry. By backing up appropriate pressure with a chemical facade cleaner, a good end result can be achieved. In addition, the right facade cleaner can speed up the cleaning process.

Facade cleaners are highly acidic or alkaline products. This means that if used incorrectly, these products can cause damage. Use acidic products only on acid-resistant façades, not on calcareous natural stone. Use alkaline products only on alkali-resistant substrates, not on marble and aluminum. With both products, be careful when using them around plants, painting and finishing materials on the facade. Always put a test piece to check suitability.

HF is a toxic acid which poses a hazard. Therefore, this product is used only in situations where other products do not offer a solution. Always take extra precautions while working with HF, such as liquid-proof clothing, chemical-resistant gloves and face protection. Always have calcium gluconate gel nearby so that first aid can be provided immediately in case of an accident. Always consult the safety data sheet before use.

Unlike pool chlorine, Facadeclean HC contains excipients in addition to highly concentrated hypochlorite to improve its stability and cleaning effect. In addition, it contains a strong perfume that masks the odor of the bleach.
