Graffiti can be a form of street or vandalism, depending on the context, the surface used, the message and so on. However one puts it, the fact remains, that many home and business owners, as well city officials, often need to treat it as an unwelcome nuisance, since it lowers the value of their property and makes their neighbourhoods uglier.

Since coatings make it more difficult for graffiti to stick, and make it easier to remove them, after a couple of tries, vandals are discouraged from repeating the illegal drawings and that can change a community in the long term.
